Are you looking to raise the bar on your writing? There’s really no substitute for professional editing. Your writing is going to be read by thousands of people—it's worth taking the time to polish and perfect it. Working with an editor will help you stand out from the throng and become a better, more confident writer over time. I’ve worked with writers of all experience levels on nonfiction and fiction—books, stories, blogs, newsletters, and more. I offer a free 20-minute phone consultation to all new clients, so if you’d like to discuss your project please don’t hesitate to get in touch using the form at the bottom of this page.

Here is a little selection of some of my favorite editing projects:

Boundaries & Protection by Pixie Lighthorse

Pixie is a great writer, and she’s prolific. I’ve had the honor of working with her on all of her many books. Boundaries & Protection is a helpful and deeply intuitive guide through the universal human struggle of setting and respecting healthy boundaries in our relationships. It is her greatest hit to date, and I think that’s for good reason.

Dear Holmes (Various Authors)

Dear Holmes is a super fun Victorian mystery series modeled on the old Conan Doyle stories. Each story arrives as a series of weekly letters addressed to you, the detective, and readers around the world compete to solve the mystery before the final letter.

Jewels of Nature by Elspeth McLean

Elspeth is an artist who makes incredibly intricate, beautiful mandala paintings on smooth stones. This was an unusual case where I got to do multiple rounds of editing on the same text, from developmental editing at the very beginning of the writing process all the way through to the final proofread. The finished product is an absolutely gorgeous book, and it has been a big, well-deserved success.

Illustration Soul Journey by Ohn Mar Win

I’ve been working with Ohn Mar on her blog since late 2019. She initially contacted me to help her move her writing into a more honest, vulnerable place, and since then she’s shared many great pieces about her personal journey as an illustrator and human being.

Does your website look a little 2012-ish? Let’s fix that! I have helped many clients remodel their websites (or build them for the first time). Having tried many different content management systems, I now only use and recommend Squarespace, because it’s got the right balance between functionality and ease of use. I’ve seen too many Wordpress sites fall apart because their owners can’t keep up with the back end. Stop working for your site, and let it work for you!

Here are a few of the sites I’ve worked on:

ohnmarwin.com

I also helped Ohn Mar revamp her website. Her business had evolved to a point where her site no longer represented the current state of things very well, so she tasked me with arranging and prioritizing things in a fresh, updated way.

tarynmelgoza.com

Taryn has a thriving photography business, but her site was too hard to update and so it was getting to be a real thorn in her side. I helped her remake the site from scratch, and in the process we consolidated a lot of third-party subscription software functionality onto one platform, gaining simplicity and saving money.

makinostudios.com

Annette is an artist and poet with a great line of watercolor cards and other products. Her site was showing its age in a pretty serious way, so she hired me to modernize it and set her up so that she can easily keep it updated on her own.

danieldurst.rocks

It’s not all too often that someone asks for one, but when they do I love to make scratch-built art websites like this one (scratch-built meaning no Squarespace or other content management system, just good old html, css, and javascript).

Art Brand Alliance

I also moderate the Writing, Authoring, and Publishing group on the Art Brand Alliance. The ABA is a dynamic new professional organization for entrepreneurial visual artists, and the Writing, Authoring, Publishing group is a hub for learning and discussing how to share your message, tell your stories, and promote your work with style, confidence, and sincerity.

Analytics Interpretation

This is one of the most popular and valuable services that I offer. Do you have Google Analytics turned on, but when you look at the data, it may as well be in Latin? I can help you figure out what exactly your users are doing, where you’re losing them, and what to do about it.
